First off, watch out...this one's going to the Major Leagues!
So Saturday was our big pool party. There weren't as many kids as I expected which was a good thing. Only one kid from his class showed up. I feel kind of bad because I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off so I only briefly got to speak to his mom. Another of my friends really hit it off with her though and they exchanged numbers, so, I made a mommy connection! Yay me! When Colin first asked to have a pool party, I hesitated. He hates to get in the water! Why would a kid that doesn't like the pool want a pool party? But, Colin finally got into the pool! Well, technically he...FELL into the pool, but that's neither here nor there right? (By the way, he was wearing floaties and there were plenty of adults around to catch him so he was not in any DANGER. Plus, I told him to stop bending over that ledge like that!) Point is, he got in, and he actually ended up having a good time in the water! He still won't venture past the steps, but we made some progress. Towards the end of the party, he got cranky and upset me, but that's no matter. The party itself was tons of fun! We have ridiculous amounts of new toys which hopefully will keep us entertained for quite some time. Here are some party pictures!
Sitting by the pool. This was at the beginning of the day.Baseball Birthday Cake. It turned out SO GREAT! Probably one of my favorite birthday cakes ever. No, I did not make it, the local cake shop did.
Birthday boy with a blue tongue! All that icing was good!
All day I was trying to keep up with putting sunblock on the little one. I managed to do an OK job with that. Except for one spot on his back that has a funky shaped burn, he turned out all right. Me however? Well, that's another story. I haven't had a sunburn this bad in a very long time. Aloe is my best friend at the moment and I've actually considered going bra-less to work. I didn't of course, but only because my office is freezing.
Saturday night, with Colin tucked safely away at Parent's Night Out at school, I met up with some friends that I haven't seen in quite some time. I call them my "crazy" friends for good reason. Every time I go out with them, things get crazy! We started out at Copa where we had some wine then it was off to Chicago for a bit, then Swig North and finally ended up over at Ashley's place for a little after-party. Now, the last time I went to an after party, I think I was 20 and still in college. There is a reason why I don't go to afterparties anymore. Why you ask? Because I'm old! What do old people do at afterparties? They fall asleep on the recliner. Because old people cannot hang. Here's a picture of all of us before I fell asleep. Do you see that burn? Isn't it gorgeous? This weekend is the beginning of some very crazy times ahead. First is Molly's Bachelorette Party, next weekend is her wedding, the weekend after that there's talk of going to the river, then I'm taking Colin on his first beach trip, followed by Tom Petty, Labor Day festivities, the beginning of school. Welcome to the whirlwind that is my life. Hold on, it's going to be a bumpy ride!
